Wexford Motor Club are pleased to announce that preparations are currently at a very advanced stage in preparation for the running of the 2010 Riverbank House Hotel Dick Bailey Stages Rally.
Entries are coming in steadily at the moment and there are still places available so anyone considering entering the event is urged to get their entry in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
So far there is a very high quality list of entries building up hoping to take the start on the 11th September.
Some of those already entered and preparing to run in the rally are last years 2nd place overall finishers Damian Cole with Craig Drew navigating in their Ford focus WRC, both are hoping to go one better this year and be the 1st overseas crew in a long time to win the event. Another interesting entry received is from Sebastian Ling with navigator Aled Rees in a EV09, this pairing have not rallied on Irish soil in a long time so they could be a bit of a dark horse.
Entries have also been received from some of the top 2 wheel drive competitors from all over Ireland and overseas including Wesley Patterson, Simon Mauger and Neil Williams. Some local crews entered who will be hoping to put it up to these guys include Graham Scallan, Johnny Murphy, Trevor Mulligan and Shay Power all in Ford Escorts.
Also entered at the moment are the entire Moffett Family who will field 3 cars between them in both the main field and junior section.
Competitors in the Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge Ireland entered so far include the reigning champion Neil McCance and Sam Moffett who is chasing hard in the fight for this years title.
Another local rally crew entered are Alan and Brian Boggan in their nova and are worth watching as they are capable of getting as suprise result even though their car is much less powerful than the so called “Big Boys “
For now we are looking forward to the official event launch due to take place this Tuesday night 24th August in the Riverbank House Hotel from 7pm on. All are welcome to attend and we look forward to seeing you there.
